The studio
Cool Games started in 2021, when four of us met at a game jam in Montréal and built a fishing puzzle in 48 hours. It did better than any of us expected, so we rented a room above a bakery and kept going.
Today we are six people. We make compact games with one strong idea at the center, and we finish them. Three are out, two are in development, and there is always a prototype on someone's laptop.
How we work
Small scopes, finished games
We would rather ship a tight three-hour game than an unfinished thirty-hour one. Every project gets a scope it can actually hit.
Play it early, play it often
Every Friday we play whatever is on the build server, with whoever shows up on Discord. Most of our best ideas came from someone breaking something.
Ship, then keep listening
A release is not the end. We patch, we read every review, and we have added whole modes because players asked for them.
